The weather turned in favour of the 2009 Petapalooza event here in Las Vegas today. With temps in the low 60’s and the constant wind yesterday it was a surprise to enjoy such a glorious today. I had offered to lend a hand to the fabulous Las Vegas Hot Diggity Dachshund Club and Rescue. I arrived around 11am and Sam Boyd Stadium was already teeming with dogs. The were vendors, food, drink, music, and my favourite event of the day the Wiener Races! The LVHDDCR held the event and to say it was hilarious is an understatement. Some races were a clear win for some dogs and other races started and ended with little sausage dogs just running around in pandemonium…what race? Previous years at Petapalooza were better stocked with pet related vendors and there was definitely an absence this year. I would have liked to seen more shopping available. But considering the current business climate it was understandable. The majority of booths were occupied by rescues with a lot of activity which was good to see. Pet events of this size attract many different pets, I saw many a ferret, an iguana, and a slow plodding desert turtle who appeared to be unfazed by it’s own celebrity. There were however some rock star poodles who were working the scene. Just like the celebrities these pooches go to the salons too and I heard on the poodle grapevine that they are clients of The Pink Poodle Parlor Too I particularly liked the poodle who was rockin’ the blue poohawk…hey you know me I like anything that is edgy and rock ‘n’ roll!
